EVERT
The initial brief for this project asked us to create a ‘serendipitous experience’ to future proof the Chau Chak Wing Museum. The process began by visiting the museum and attending a discussion panel. The information gathered during the panel was summarised to identify what the directors of the museum desired. We then gathered focus groups of first year USYD Students and conducted context mapping research sessions. From this we discovered the emotions and impressions towards museums (in general) and altered the brief accordingly.
We employed the use of design metaphors to illustrate the mission we wished to accomplish:
“The Chau Chak Wing Museum is a contemporary beehive that fosters friendships and drives knowledge”
In line with our vision and the design brief requirement to include digital as well as physical elements Evert was conceptualised.
Final Prototype: Video
Evert is an idea. To take artefacts from the exhibitions within the museum and place them outside, across the university campus. It would enable a very pure form of advertising. Educating the viewers whilst making them aware of the museums existence. We further developed the idea using gamification. The final Evert prototype featured an app where users would ‘collect knowledge’, finding the artefacts scattered across the university campus and scanning them into an app. View the video for more.

The project displays principles and methods relevant to the user experience design of digital products and services. It provides insight into methods for gathering user requirements and translating them into design solutions that emphasise the user experience of the final product. I was awarded a HD for the subject and my group partner and I were one of eight selected to present to the Chau Chak Wing museum directly.
